Sudhir Bhave completed Mechanical engineering in 1973 from MSU and worked for 40 years in the steel industry. After retirement he travelled to America in 2015-16 to visit his daughter and there he saw and rode an elliptical bicycle for the first time. However he found the price tag to be very high and decided to make in India with less cost. “An elliptical bicycle is purely for exercise and a price tag of 1400 dollar was too high for me. So I thought to make such an elliptical bicycle in India and started working on it after back in India. After around four months of work the first bicycle was ready made for $300 (Rs. 25,000/) a much lesser cost in comparison to the one in USA. Later I started making elliptical cycles and three orthopedic doctors purchased from me and using it,” said Sudhir Bhave READ MORE

Mauri Vansevenant had a promising start to 2023, but that quickly changed as the Soudal - Quick-Step rider injured his knee at Strade Bianche in early March, and haven't worn race number since then. He's took some time off to recover and the Belgian climber now seems ready to take on the Critérium du Dauphiné.

During the reconnaissance of the course, he bumped his knee against his handlebars. An accident with serious consequences. “There was a small tear in the membrane between the kneecap and the patella. It didn't seem serious, but the day after the Strade I was in a lot of pain."

"I had to start from scratch. A month and a half ago, mid-April, I was able to train again." Now the climber is again eager to jump on the bike and race. "It has been a long way back. The first training sessions were tough, but after four or five weeks I was in good shape READ MORE

Fifteen months ago, Dev Shah spent a miserable five hours spelling outdoors in chilly, windy, damp conditions at a supersize regional competition in Orlando, Florida, only to fall short of his dream of returning to the Scripps National Spelling Bee.

“Despondent is the right word,” Dev said. “I just didn’t know if I wanted to keep continuing.”

Look at him now.

Soft-spoken but brimming with confidence, Dev asked precise questions about obscure Greek roots, rushed through his second-to-last word and rolled to the National Spelling Bee title Thursday night.

Dev, a 14-year-old from Largo, Florida, first competed at the national bee in 2019, then had his spelling career interrupted. The 2020 bee was canceled because of COVID-19, and in the mostly virtual 2021 bee, he didn’t make it to the in-person finals READ MORE

Lauren De Crescenzo will ride a custom, Factor Ostro gravel bike with semi-slick tyres at this weekend’s Unbound 200.

The defending Gravel World Champion is one of the favourites in the women’s Unbound 200, having won the Mid South gravel race in Oklahoma earlier this season.

But facing a stiff test from the 2022 Unbound champion, Sofia Gomez Villafane, Factor has tried to help De Crescenzo eke out every last watt. READ MORE

A friend of cyclocross racer Caroline Mani asked her why she was riding her first Unbound Gravel 200 race this weekend, knowing the five-time French champion usually competed in the winter in the much shorter cyclocross calendar, where events are 50 minutes, not 10 hours. When Mani explained that the event is popular and good for sponsorship, her friend was not convinced, asking, 'Would you ask a sprinter runner to become a marathon runner?'

Mani still has a lot of explaining to do, as do a dozen or so cyclocross specialists who are competing in the Unbound Gravel 100 or 200 this year. Most of them are in Emporia, Kansas for the longer event because it is part of the Life Time Grand Prix. Invitations were sent, and the challenge was accepted READ MORE

Defending Tour de France champion Jonas Vingegaard is as determined as ever to take a second straight title in the world’s biggest bike race, but the Danish star says that when it comes to fighting for the victory this July in France, he feels he is under less pressure than in 2022

The 26-year-old is currently putting the last pieces in the jigsaw of his preparation into place, including a recon on Friday of the Tour de France’s stage 9 at the Puy de Dôme, where he crossed paths with Enric Mas (Movistar) and Egan Bernal (Ineos Grenadiers). Both Mas and Bernal will likely be key rivals come July as well as taking part, like Vingegaard, in the Critérium du Dauphiné, which starts Sunday in the nearby town of Chambon-sur-Lac READ MORE
